A behind the scenes look at the making of this project.
A behind the scenes look at the fantasy photography for this project.

I started at the head and worked my way down through the rest of the body parts.

Jetpack details.

Upper body and hip skirts assembled.

I built an inner skeleton out of foam board for additional support.

Feet being assembled.

Legs being assembled with several layers of parts on top of each other.

Gundam standing without arms attached. Keeping the upper back open until the end allowed me to make adjustments to its inner skeleton.

I’m usually very focused when working on one of these big projects, but whenever my younger brother shows up things get humorous and off task very quickly.

My lovely wife showing the Gundam some love.

Whatever I work at I do it with all my heart for God’s glory and for my personal fulfillment.

The source of my inspiration and guidance.

Christalin from my 65 Roses project got a chance to meet the 7FT Gundam. Her amazement was priceless.
Project teaser video launched one month before the official project reveal.

Teaser poster design.

Printed teaser poster.
Seriously, with all of the interest, you should post this up on Kickstarter. I’m sure that you could get enough people together to make it worthwhile to get a commercial printer make up kits. You could keep control of the files and maybe even make a few bucks to pay for your time to create the next one
I would love to be able to build this as a father/son project. It would also make a really cool project for a church youth group.
If it’s something that you’d consider, but don’t have the time to pursue, let me know and I’d be happy to help.
Thanks, neat idea. I haven’t thought of using that service yet for something like this.
Man these are my longtime Favortie Gundams and you just blew me away, After you showing how you build it. AWESOME JOB!!!!!!! Keep up more models to make.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed seeing this.
this is an outstanding work of art you have made. ive always wished i had the talent to be able to do this myself. id have tons of these models. id like to give a shot on making a 4ft liger zero Jager. id like to make these instead of the plastic ones would save me lots of money
Hey Chris, you should try designing one yourself. There’s no reason why you wouldn’t be able to.
Is there a DIY section for this? I want to piss off my friends they brought the real Bandai 5 footer for $5000. I rather have this. Please give me your DIY if possible. Really Apprecitated
There’s a real 5ft Bandai model? I’d love to see it.
Here is the link

But I think yours better. Very creative in terms of the outcome. Much props for your workmanship!
I would LOVE to create yours and put it in my office!
)
It’s a bit plain looking visually. I would assume Bandai would make something more interesting, especially for something that big.
Yes after seeing your video and months of thinking and creating it. It’s a lot of work and you did an EXCELLENT JOB! Much praise for you!
Thank you Raymond for appreciating the effort.
Amazing work man. I’m definitely a fan now.
I will admit that I’m a bit sad that you’re not going to release the .pdo files. This would make for an awesome costume base. If you ever do, please let me know.
How long did it take to make this project?
Around 350 hours for the papercraft and 1 year for the entire project, whenever I had the time for it.

Hey Taras!! Bro im so hyped over ur creation! Your work is just brilliant. I’m doing a project on graphic designs/sculpture and i would like to do an artist case study on you. i was wondering if u can answer some basic questions.
What did you get your inspiration and what kind of concept would you say your creation is of? These two questions wud mean alot to me! -Kay N from Singapore!
Thanks Kay. I got inspired by the miniature model you see in my photos and videos because of its design. I like to say that I do Graphic Design Arts so I would classify most of my work as such.
It so fantastic . Can I get the file to build it?
This is brilliant!!.. And pretty awesome.. Keep it up and hope to see more of this type of papercraft.. and once again.. nice job ^^

You’re freaking AMAZING!!! However next time you decide to burn one of your incredible art pieces, please consider calling me first!!!
Really love this…very impressive. And really hoping that the helmet gets released so I can make my own
Keep up the great work
This is amazing and inspiring. I have just started doing papercraft and really want to do big models like this. I just want to know what model and brand your cutters are. I am currently cutting out by hand but the plotters look much better and allow you to concentrate on the design
Hey Leedz, the plotters I use are called Silhouette SD. It’s a great tool to have because you don’t have to print the guide lines and it makes very clean fold lines.
Awesome. Thanks heaps for the quick reply. How long before your next project? I’m guessing it will be something 10ft high this time
You’re welcome. I’m actually working on a new papercraft car at the moment. Follow my Facebook page for upcoming updates.
hope to see your 7FT Gundam – Ultimate Papercraft @ this years anime expo in los angeles.
ehi man!!! YOU ARE AWESOOOOOOOME!!!
Great job. You really are brilliant. Very cool the papercraft!!
Is there a download link?
I’m very sorry. I AM blown away by the detail in this model and I want to build it VERY badly. However, my boyfriend is a Gundam fan and with all the religious stuff on it. It’s not really the same character anymore. I was very sad to see all the Christian stuff on it because it makes it not fun for everyone. I just feel bad that I can’t make it without the crosses and such on it. Really brought me down. I mean I live in a Christian family but I don’t feel like changing a character’s look does anything but deface the character and the company who worked hard to design the look of the character for the show. It should be kept so everyone can feel the same about it you know? I don’t want to offend anyone or cause any uproar. I have a lot of respect for someone putting so much love and effort into such a beautiful piece …I’m just …sad. I dunno.
You don’t understand the real meaning of Christianity, otherwise you would understand why it’s the core of all my personal work. I hope some day you will.
Very nicely done! If you ever get bored of it, let me know before setting it on fire, attaching a stick of dynamite to it or seeing if it can really fly….. It would look great next to my 7ft Voltron…. Come to think of it, maybe that can be your next project? A 7ft transforming Voltron. I have the Masterpiece version you can borrow to use as reference…LOL But in all seriousness, great work man!
That’s a serious collection you got there. You must be really into this Gundam thing. Very cool.
hey Great job!!!
loved you old work and really loving the new project as well 7ft is just amazing i am really planing on making it… wondering if you could please send me the templates if possible it would be great please
any new creation of BIG STUFF!!! you have in mind for later??
Hi. After all the feedback you have had, I think I might design a gundam papercraft. Do you have any tips or hints?
Can you disclose what software you prefer to use?
Thanks.
Start working on it and learn as you go. That’s probably the best tip I can give. For software I use Cinema 4d, Photoshop and Pepakura, but this is really a matter of personal preference and the alternatives are endless.
Thanks for the quick feedback!
I know of Pepakura and photoshop. But my problem is getting started. I know the steps, and have a basic understanding of how-to, but it’s the choosing of the subject matter, the making of the mesh and the best way to flatten it that stops me! LOL
I’ll just have to sit down and push through.
Now to find a cheap cutter/plotter…
Cut it by hand before you get into plotter cutting. Take it one step at a time.
LOL Thanks – but I’ve been building other people’s papercraft now for about 4 years now and I’d like to move on from the manual process, as well as give back. I’ve yet to take that step
I have a Saint Bernard dog from the canon site that I enlarged and is as big as the real thing!
I’m a member of a google group called Papermodelers.. and your work has been linked to a couple of times.
We all drool… he he As well as hope that one day…. well I think you know the rest of that story. LOL But we are also aware that this is your chosen career and respect your privacy and choices.
If I ever do manage to make a large version of a gundam, I’ll let you know.
All those primary blocks shouldn’t be too hard… (she says in innocence)
Thanks for responding. I look forward to your next project!
Awesome job!!!! its always been my dream to make something giant out of paper and now you’ve done it!!!!! if you dont mind my asking how do you make the templates that you print and cut out ???(i want to make my own papercraft)
Thank you. I use Cinema 4D, Photoshop, Illustrator and Pepakura Designer to make the templates.
Thank You! PS: could 3DS MAX make a good replacement for 4d cinema??
It’s an “alternative”. I can’t tell you if it’s better because it’s really a personal preference based on the features it offers, and price tag.

My name is Thiago and I’m from Brazil. I also like riding papercrafts and would like to know how to get this model to assemble it. I hope your kindly response by email.
I’m sorry if the text is with some mistakes, do not speak very well English and I used Google translator to help me make this request.
Please await a response from you at: thi_denadai@hotmail.com

This one is not available for download.
Thank you for your attention, and it’s a shame not to build this fine example of papercraft.
The way will be assembling another model … = /

Hey Taras. You are my GOD!!! I love gundam, I love modeling (paper and plastic models) and I love Graphic design. You simply combined all 3 together!!! Well done. Is this pack available for sell? I would love to buy it
Hey Chi, thank you. I don’t offer or sell any templates for this model. It’s a unique work of art I created for myself using the gifts and resources God has blessed me with. If you are passionate about these things as well, I encourage you to make one for yourself.
”gifts and resources God has blessed me with” He certainly did blessed you and thank you very much for showing us your talent. I would love to have a go but I don’t have/know how to use any 3D software. I can do photoshop as I did HND in Graphic design. Will you be making anymore gundam in the future? maybe a pack for sell as I would buy it in a heart beat
Keep up the outstanding work. you are a true inspiration
If there’s a certain software you don’t know you can always learn it. That’s why you have the gift of knowledge. I taught myself all the software I know.
Kudos to your Gundam Creation. Also, your wife was hot!
